May 29, 2023 – We are pleased to announce that our team members, Branimir Radun, Ivan Tomljenović, and Ivan Tekić, had the privilege of attending the prestigious “New Capabilities and Countries in European Space” conference organized by the European Space Agency (ESA). The conference took place at the ESA/ESTEC facility in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, from May 22nd to 24th, serving as a platform to foster international cooperation and partnerships within the space sector.
Organized by the ESA Directorate of Commercialisation, Industry, and Procurement, the event brought together experts and professionals from various fields, ranging from newcomers to experienced participants in the space industry. With a focus on showcasing capabilities, achievements, and needs, the conference highlighted the contributions of companies from ESA member states, Associate members, and cooperating countries (PECS), including Croatia.
Our team members had the opportunity to participate in thematic sessions, where they shared insights, gained knowledge, and exchanged experiences with industry leaders and professionals. Ivan Tomljenović delivered an oral presentation on “Sentinel-based Detection and Identification of Negative Human Influence on the Mediterranean Coastal Zone”, highlighting Oikon’s expertise in utilizing Sentinel data for coastal zone analysis. Additionally, Ivan Tekić presented a poster titled “Invasive alien plant species detection capabilities with Sentinel 2 – example of Ambrosia artemisiifolia and Amorpha fruticosa,” demonstrating the potential of satellite data in detecting and managing invasive species.
Beyond the informative sessions, the conference provided valuable networking opportunities. Our representatives engaged in fruitful discussions with potential collaborators and explored possibilities for future partnerships. Our participation further strengthened Oikon’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and scientific expertise to address environmental challenges and contribute to the ever-evolving space industry.
