Another exciting year lies behind us. It has gone by very quickly for us and we are glad to have ended it healthy, happy and successful. We hope it has been the same for you too. 😊
We have to admit that last year was just as challenging as the previous ones. Fortunately, we got rid of Covid, at least partially, but inflation has hit us all and we are expecting a recession. But we have adapted to this and, despite the challenges, many new business opportunities have opened up for us. We have expanded the portfolio of services, improved technology, methodology and work organisation.
The end of the year is the time when we remember and analyse our accomplishments. As we are constantly growing and improving year after year, we can be proud of the fact that we have achieved a lot this year as well…
We have successfully started and completed many large and important projects, including several significant ones such as marine habitat mapping, which we are working on with partners. There are also Monitoring programs for terrestrial flora, small mammals, otters and large carnivores. We also signed a third contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the project “Sentinel-based infralittoral sea habitat type mapping“, which serves the long-term goal of conserving the environment and enabling rapid action to protect its values and our habitats. In addition, our largest investments of work, time and knowledge were made in supporting the development of numerous renewable energy projects in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.
We have worked hard and diligently, which is reflected in our business results. This year we were once again awarded the internationally recognised Golden AAA Credit Excellence Certificate.
At the end of last year and the beginning of this year, we commissioned our new data centre, which ensures business continuity and a high level of security. Due to the increasing demand for Earth observation services, especially those of the latest technology, we have expanded our portfolio of services and solutions to include ALOS-2 high-resolution satellite imagery, which we distribute for Croatia. We recently opened our Laboratory for Biodiversity and Population Genetics, which is currently being equipped and about which we will report more next year.
We are always happy to support and encourage the development of scientific and student projects, and we are delighted that Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in England has named us the best student placement provider of the year 2020/21 in the SME category.
We have participated in numerous conferences and scientific and professional meetings all over Croatia, but also in Romania, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands. At the conference “Environmental Assessments and the European Green Deal ’22“, held in Vodice in September this year, we contributed to the professional community with 32 presentations. Our work has left its mark on professional and business associations, and we are very pleased to be the organisers of one of the world’s largest and most important conferences in the field of wind energy and wildlife impact – CWW 2023, to which we plan to bring more than 500 participants from all over the world to Croatia. You will hear more about the conference next year, and we hope to see you in Šibenik next September!
Finally, we would like to say that we are looking forward to the new year and new challenges. You can keep up with our work not only on the website but also on social media, where we regularly publish more informal posts and photos.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year 2023. Cheers! 😊
