The aim of the project was to develop a methodology for monitoring of forest ecosystems in the area of the planned multipurpose Danube – Sava canal.

The project included the establishment and implementation of developed monitoring system which included:

  • Measurement of tree growth within a year
  • Measurement of soil moisture
  • Monitoring of the health status of dominant forest tree species
  • Monitoring of underground water level
  • Micro bioindication
  • Vegetation succession
  • NDVI-based forest condition
  • Preparation of annual reports
  • Development of mathematical model parameters depending on the health status and physiological activity of the dominant forest tree species
  • Establishing a forest trees transpiration monitoring
