Published monograph: The Forests of the Plitvice Lakes National Park

January 4, 2023 – The forest cover plays a crucial role in the formation and preservation of Plitvice Lakes. In order to preserve this natural treasure, it is important to understand its components, structure, mutual influences, interdependencies, potential threats and, above all, to raise awareness of the rules and importance of its protection. Driven by these motives, the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology of the University of Zagreb and Oikon Ltd – Institute of Applied Ecology have jointly published a monograph The Forests of the Plitvice Lakes National Park by Joso Vukelić, Irena Šapić, Damir Ugarković and Krešimir Krapinec.

The monograph explores the key aspects of the forest cover and its role in the creation and maintenance of the Plitvice Lakes, and presents a synthesis of the results of the authors’ long-term research, as well as the knowledge of other scientists and experts who study the forests of the Plitvice Lakes National Park.

It is aimed at scientists, forestry experts, students and all nature lovers and serves as a valuable source of information on the natural wonders of Plitvice Lakes.
