July 25, 2022 – Everyone knows that the Great Wall of China can be seen from space, but did you know that the Pelješac Bridge in Croatia can also be seen from space? 😊

Here’s how the Copernicus program’s Sentinel-2 system has been monitoring the construction of one of the largest and most important infrastructure projects in the Republic of Croatia. The time-lapse shows the area of the Pelješac Bridge on the images of the Sentinel 2A and Sentinel 2B satellites in the period from 2017 until just a few days before the official opening and putting the bridge into function.

With its official opening on July 26, 2022, the Pelješac Bridge will finally unite the Croatian territory by connecting the south of Croatia with the rest of the country. The bridge is 2,440 meters long and is the largest Croatian infrastructure project financed with European funds.
