March 9, 2026 – This weekend, Oikon participated in the Space Tech Hackathon 2026, an event organised by the “Pozdravi svemir” project, funded by the European Space Agency and supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth. The hackathon aims to bring space topics to a wider audience and encourage young people in Croatia to explore the space industry and the opportunities it offers.
Participants, students from various disciplines, spent two days developing and prototyping solutions based on space technologies and AI tools. Fourteen teams competed, and the top three solutions were awarded €500, €1,000, and €2,000, along with additional support for project applications.
Oikon contributed through mentoring activities and solution evaluation. Alongside Bruno Ćaleta (Oikon), the mentors included Mario Brčić (FER), Karol Brzostowski (ESA), Dragan Divjak (LIST LABS), and Senko Rašić (AI mentor).
We are especially proud that the winning team was mentored by Oikon. Their solution, “Where’s My Hog,” uses satellite data, artificial intelligence, and drone imagery to track wild boar migration and assess damage to agricultural land.
In addition, Bruno also mentored the teams that placed third and fourth in the hackathon, further highlighting the value of expert mentorship and support for young innovators.
Congratulations to Bruno, the winning team, all other participants and the organisers!
