March 26, 2026 – We are proud to announce that our colleague Damjan Hatić has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU Kaiserslautern).
The doctoral thesis, titled “Applied Machine Vision in Industrial Inspection and Disaster Response”, focuses on the application of computer vision in industrial inspection and disaster response. Special emphasis is placed on the assessment of building damage following natural disasters, representing a highly relevant and practically applicable research area.
The research was conducted in collaboration with Fraunhofer ITWM, Oikon, and RPTU, further strengthening the link between the scientific community and applied research in the field of damage assessment. This achievement opens the door for continued collaboration and the development of innovative solutions in risk management and disaster response.
The doctoral defence committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Stefan Deßloch (chair), Prof. Dr. Hans Hagen, and Assoc. Prof. Hrvoje Kutnjak.
