United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP27

November 15, 2022 – This year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP27 – is being held November 6-18, 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, with more than 90 heads of state and representatives of 190 countries expected to attend. 🌍

Alida Ban Pavlović, Head of our Department of Environmental Law, Policy and Economics, is attending the conference as an observer of the UN Association for Development and Peace (UNADAP).

“At COP27, countries come together to take action towards achieving the world’s collective climate goals as agreed under the Paris Agreement and the Convention. Building on the outcomes and the momentum of COP 26 in Glasgow last year, nations are expected to demonstrate at COP 27 that they are in a new era of implementation by turning their commitments under the Paris Agreement into action”, said Alida after the opening ceremony.

The conference has been held annually since the first UN climate agreement in 1992. It is used by governments to agree on policies to limit global temperature rises and adapt to impacts associated with climate change.
