Article by Jelena Mlinarec Novosel, PhD published in the prestigious scientific journal Frontiers in Plant Science

July 6, 2022 – The scientific paper of our biologist Jelena Mlinarec Novosel, PhD, has just been published in the prestigious international journal Frontiers in Plant Science under the title “Structure and Methylation of 35S rDNA in Allopolyploids Anemone multifida (2n = 4x = 32, BBDD) and Anemone baldensis (2n = 6x = 48, AABBDD) and Their Parental Species Show Evidence of Nucleolar Dominance”.

This work describes for the first time the structure and methylation of 35S rDNA in allopolyploids of common origin, Anemone multifida and A. baldensis, and their parental species. The research results show that in A. baldensis, nucleolar dominance is directed toward chromosomes derived from A. sylvestris. This work broadens our current knowledge of the 35S rDNA organization in Anemone and provides evidence of the progenitor-specific 35S rDNA methylation in nucleolar dominance.

The paper is available at: Frontiers | Structure and Methylation of 35S rDNA in Allopolyploids Anemone multifida (2n = 4x = 32, BBDD) and Anemone baldensis (2n = 6x = 48, AABBDD) and Their Parental Species Show Evidence of Nucleolar Dominance (frontiersin.org)

Frontiers Media SA is a publisher of peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journals currently active in the fields of science, technology and medicine. It is the 3rd most-cited and 6th largest research publisher and open science platform in the world.

Congratulations to Jelena and the other authors on this success!
