European Green Activist Training (EGAT) 2022/2023

March 13, 2023 – our associate Lovro Turkalj successfully completed the European Green Activist Training (EGAT), a project organized by the Green European Foundation (GEF) in cooperation with the association Sustainable Development Forum Green Window.

The goal of the project was to introduce participants to green topics (climate change, biodiversity and environmental protection, human rights and democracy, feminism, active citizenship), green policies and sustainable development policies, European Union institutions, and to explore the possibilities of active and professional involvement in building a greener and fairer society. The project consisted of three national trainings and one study visit to the institutions of the European Union in Brussels.

In addition to Croatia, organizations from Finland, Greece, Hungary, Catalonia, Poland and the Czech Republic also participated in the project.

“I learned more about the history of the green movement, the various green values and how they look in practice. The next step was preparing topical questions for the MEPs. I also learned more about the ins and outs of public speaking, human rights and democracy, how to influence political institutions, and how to campaign and petition. The last session topic was energy in Europe where I learned the importance of energy sharing, the role of renewables as well as the necessary materials and technology necessary for sustainable alternative modes of energy. I also visited the European Parliament, the House of European History, and marched for International Women’s Day. The experience was great, and I want to thank the Green European Foundation and Sustainable Development Forum Green Window for this opportunity,” said Lovro Turkalj.
