May 13, 2019 – We have recently started working on a new and interesting project – Monitoring of urchins and sea cucumbers in the Adriatic. The research is conducted by scuba diving and includes 13 locations for sea cucumbers and 13 locations for sea urchins throughout the Adriatic, including the protected areas such as the National Parks of Kornati and Mljet.
Together with Janolus d.o.o. and the members of The 20000 Leagues Society, with whom we are working on this project, we have already visited Central and Southern Adriatic Sea and are about to go North.
These echinoderms have become commercially interesting, so it is necessary to monitor the state of their populations in order to preserve this important group.
