Oikon at ESA PECS Industry Days 2026 in Malta

April 29, 2026 – Oikon experts participated in the ESA PECS and Associate Member States Industry Days 2026, held from 22 to 24 April 2026 in Valletta, Malta. The event was jointly organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Maltese agency Xjenza Malta, and brought together delegations from more than nine PECS Member States and ESA Associate Member States. Alongside Croatia, participants included Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Cyprus and Bulgaria.

Oikon presented its portfolio of ongoing Earth observation projects. These projects cover monitoring of coastal and marine areas, detection of invasive plant species and forest pests, environmental accounting, habitat suitability modelling for large carnivores, and a range of other applications of satellite data in environmental protection and sustainable spatial planning. Our experts actively participated in meetings with potential partners from other European countries, during which they discussed joint applications for upcoming ESA calls and future development projects.

Industry Days serve as an important platform for networking between companies from PECS countries, ESA, and the wider European space ecosystem. Under the PECS arrangement, Croatia, as an ESA Cooperating State, contributes an annual fee that is largely returned to the national industry through calls published on the esa-star platform. This gives such events direct strategic and business value. Oikon’s participation further confirms the company’s position as one of the leading Croatian companies in the application of Earth observation for environmental protection and sustainable spatial planning.
