July 20, 2020 — OIKON Ltd. and Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering at University of Zagreb recently signed a contract within the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) RawMaterials project of Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining school (DIM ESEE).
The main goal of the project is knowledge transfer, as well as strengthening innovation capacities in the mining, recycling and waste management sectors. This is a lifelong learning project that will be implemented in close partnership with industry stakeholders in all countries of the project consortium.
On June 18, OIKON Ltd. participated in an online Industry-academia workshop held by the DIM ESEE project consortium. The workshop was initially scheduled to take place in May in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Industry-academia workshop brought together a total of 25 participants, including 14 representatives from 11 companies from Austria, Slovenia, Belgium, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia.
The first part of the workshop was related to the presentation of the program, while the second part included discussion on the needs and possibilities of the ESEE raw materials sector. The participants agreed that in processing innovations there should be more focus on recycling and the circular economy, while in exploitation innovations focus should be more on environmental management.
