April 7, 2025, Patras, Greece – We participated in the 9th European Congress of Mammalogy (ECM9), held from March 31 to April 4, 2025, in Patras, Greece. The congress gathered around 260 experts from 41 countries and featured 150 oral and 98 poster presentations.
The presented research covered various topics in ecology, genetics, conservation biology, and mammal research methods – from rodents to large carnivores, from underground to flying species.
Oikon was represented through two scientific contributions based on results from the OPCC project Lot 5: Development of a monitoring program for small mammals, implemented by Oikon:
- Oral presentation: Activity of the endemic Martino’s Dinaric Vole (Dinaromys bogdanovi) and Western Dinaric Vole (Dinaromys longipedis) in Croatia recorded on camera traps, presented by Tea Huten from Supernatural
- Poster presentation: Activity of the Garden dormouse (Eliomys quercinus) in karst habitats in Croatia captured using camera traps, with recommendations for further monitoring, presented by Dora Čuljak from Oikon.
It was an honour to present our results internationally and exchange knowledge with colleagues from across Europe and beyond. Participation in such an event is yet another recognition of Oikon’s expertise in mammal research and conservation.
