January 29, 2025 – We are proud to announce that our employee, Professor Joso Vukelić, has been awarded the Annual National Science Award for the Popularization and Promotion of Science for 2023 in the field of biotechnical sciences.
This prestigious recognition was granted for his dedicated work in promoting science through the publication of scientific monographs and professional manuals, the organization of expert workshops, and active participation in scientific projects and media activities.
In 2023, the year for which the award is being given, Professor Vukelić was the first author of two scientific monographs and two professional manuals, and co-authored four scientific and review articles. Additionally, he was the leader and lecturer at six workshops attended by 250 participants from forestry institutions and public nature conservation organizations. He served as the principal investigator, leader, or collaborator on four projects. He also participated in the TV show Eko Zona and received the “The Teacher” award at Oikon for his contributions to education and mentorship of young professionals.
Professor Vukelić has left a remarkable legacy through his work, and his mentorship and selfless sharing of knowledge serve as an inspiration to all colleagues and young scientists. This award not only confirms the exceptional quality of his work but also motivates us all to continue striving for scientific excellence and social relevance.
Each year, the Republic of Croatia grants National Science Awards for outstanding achievements in scientific research, the advancement of scientific knowledge, and the application of research results. This year, a total of 29 awards were presented for accomplishments in 2023.
