Project name: Analysis of pathways of introduction and spread of invasive species within the project “Establishment of a National System for Monitoring Invasive Alien Species”
Client: Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy
Period: 10/2018 – 05/2019
Funding: State Budget
Based on literature and other data, using the Harmonia method, the invasiveness rate was estimated for 242 species, out of which 49 species are on the Union list (species causing concern in the Union in accordance with Article 4 of Regulation (EU) No 1143/2014) and 31 types are on the list proposal. In accordance with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), classification of entry routes into 6 categories and 44 subcategories was made.
For each species, research was conducted on biology and ecology of the species on the basis of which an assessment of the risk of invasiveness was performed. Data on foreign invasive species and their ways of introduction and spread were analyzed in relation to the number and percentage of species on the introduction and spread routes, taxonomic group and invasiveness category.
From the results obtained, time and space analysis of the entry paths was made, and prioritization of the routes of introduction and dissemination towards the risk of each route was done.
The analysis was carried out in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 1143/2014 on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive foreign species within the project “Establishment of a National System for Monitoring Invasive Alien Species”
