Dalibor Hatić discusses EU Green Deal at Press klub Europa

December 10, 2020 – Press klub Europa, an online panel discussion organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia, was held today, covering current topics such as European Commission measures in the fight against COVID-19, measures to preserve jobs and support young people in the transition from education to market work and green and digital transition of our societies, with an emphasis on Sisak-Moslavina County.

Oikon CEO, Dalibor Hatić, was one of the panelists who participated in the block covering the European Green Deal where he talked about the Green Deal, why it is important and generally about the importance of addressing environmental issues during project development and exploitation.

“European Green Deal is specific in relation to all previous strategies in that it encourages green projects, i.e. development projects aimed at reducing climate change, adapting to climate change, protecting biodiversity, etc. Previously, the protection of nature and the environment was seen as an obstacle to development, but that has changed, as well as the consciousness of the EU citizens, and now, with this Green Deal, the protection of nature and the environment is considered an integral part of new development projects”, explained Dalibor Hatić.

Other speakers at the panel included MEP Sunčana Glavak, Adviser from the European Commission’s DG Environment, Tanja Franotović, and other representatives of the Commission, Croatian Employment Service, associations and the media, with moderation by Karmen Valenta.

How did the European Commission, led by Ursula von der Leyen, respond to the challenges in the first year of its mandate? What did the EU do for citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic? How does the EU help young people and small businesses? How to implement a successful transition to a green economy? And is Croatia ready for the digital age? are the questions answered by the participants during the discussion.

The aim of the Press klub Europa is to encourage the local community to be informed about European policies and the benefits and opportunities that the European Union offers to its citizens.
