June 25, 2021 – we are happy to present to you a new reinforcement of our team – Jelena Mlinarec Novosel, PhD, employed at Oikon’s Department of Nature Protection and Landscape Architecture as a Senior Associate, where she will, with her knowledge and experience, contribute to many projects in the field of nature conservation and biodiversity.
Dr. Mlinarec Novosel in 2001 graduated Ecology, at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and six years later she obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology. From 2002 to 2005 she worked as an Assistant, and from 2007 to 2019 as a Senior Assistant or Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.
Scientific work of Dr. Jelena Mlinarec Novosel is focused on understanding the principles and mechanisms of plant and animal genome evolution and biodiversity using molecular and cytogenetic methods. She has published a total of 24 scientific papers. She is the co-author of one chapter in the book “Methods of Molecular Biology”, and is the co-author of student scripts for the Practicum in Genetics. She perfected her scientific skills in three short stays abroad.
Dr. Mlinarec Novosel was teaching at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. From 2002 to 2019, she led the Practicum in Cell Biology and the Practicum in Genetics. She won the recognition of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science for the results achieved in her scientific work in 2016.
Jelena Mlinarec Novosel likes to swim, dance, cycle, do gardening and play with her son and daughter.
