April 12, 2024 – OIKON participated in the 4th International Conference on ‘Waters in Sensitive and Protected Areas’ (WSPA), which was held in Pula from April 10 to 13. At the conference, we showcased our latest research in nature and environmental protection related to water resources.

OIKON’s experts delivered five oral presentations and presented two posters, covering diverse topics such as beaver population monitoring, measures to improve the condition of Lake Jarun and the Sava River hydromorphological condition, the conservation status of the European eel and the Danube barbel, assessing the impact of removal of Ailanthus altissima invasive species in Krka National Park, and other conservation measures for freshwater ecosystems. Our research emphasized the importance of integrated approaches for ecological restoration, highlighting our commitment to practical conservation solutions.

Organized by the European Water Association (EWA) and the Croatian Water Pollution Control Society (CWPCS), the 4th WSPA Conference aimed to gather leading scientists, experts, entrepreneurs, and public administration representatives to present the latest research findings and exchange ideas on scientific, technical, socio-economic, legal, and educational aspects of protecting and sustainably utilizing sensitive water resources and ecosystem services.

We are proud to have supported the conference as silver sponsors.
